Michael Pollack started taking piano lessons at age 8, after showing an interest in an electronic toy piano. For the past two years, he has been studying with Alan Bash, who holds a master’s degree in piano from Juilliard.
He is versed in the classics and has passed the highest level at New York State School Music Association competitions, but his passion is pop music. "I like to write upbeat songs," Michael said. "I'm not into hard rock or love songs."
He got into writing as a young boy, creating music in his head and playing his own songs. With encouragement from his parents, he began recording his melodies on the computer and incorporating lyrics. In September, Michael started voice lessons with Carol Klar.
Twelve year old Michael Pollack played with an All Star Band led by Billy Joel’s saxophonist Richie (Rico) Cannata on Monday evening at Midnight (12/11) as the guest of Richie.
